On March 25, 2025, the Department of Administrative, Economic Law and Financial and Economic Security of Sumy State University held a lecture within the course “Labor Law” on the topic “Legal Regulation of Employment and Job Placement.” The lecture was delivered by the department’s lecturer, O.P. Horban, and the discussion of practical aspects featured a guest speaker — V.V. Prokopenko, Head of the Career Guidance Department at the Sumy Regional Employment Center.
During the session, Ms. Prokopenko introduced students to the key areas of the State Employment Service’s activities, including:
🔹 Functions of the Employment Service, available services, and support programs for citizens
🔹 Procedure for obtaining and the amount of microgrants for starting one’s own business
🔹 Unemployment status, financial support in case of unemployment, and social services
🔹 Prevention of discrimination and gender inequality in the hiring process
Students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive professional explanations from a practical specialist on labor market features, recent legislative changes, and employment opportunities for youth.
The Department of AELFES at SumDU continues to implement interactive teaching methods by involving practitioners in the educational process, which significantly enhances students’ professional training.
