On May 15–16, 2025, Associate Professor Tetiana Shlapko of the Department of Administrative, Economic Law and Financial-Economic Security (AELFES) took part in the in-person segment of a training programme for professionals supporting war veterans and demobilized individuals. The training was held at the Borydanka Scientific and Educational Expert Centre as part of a professional development programme approved by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. In the following weeks, the programme will continue in an online format.
The professional development programme consisted of 150 academic hours (5 ECTS credits) and brought together 32 specialists from various regions of Ukraine. Tetiana Shlapko served as a lecturer and trainer of an educational module that combined theoretical knowledge with practical tools for working with veterans.
The training addressed a broad range of important topics, including:
-
pension provision for war veterans;
-
employment rights of veterans;
-
prevention and treatment of addictions among veterans and their family members;
-
mediation and conflict resolution practices;
-
professional reintegration of demobilized individuals within communities;
-
medical support and rehabilitation.
The module applied modern educational methods, such as interactive lectures, training exercises, case analysis, and group discussions.
Participation in this programme enabled Tetiana Shlapko to share her expertise, support the development of professional competencies among the trainees, and contribute to building an effective community-level system for veteran reintegration.
For the Department of AELFES, involvement in this large-scale national initiative marks an important step toward strengthening cooperation with the professional community, enhancing the practical orientation of its educational programmes, and increasing the university’s contribution to addressing critical social challenges.
