DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE LAW OF THE INSTITUTE OF LAW

On May 27–28, 2025, a new in-person session of the professional development course for specialists working with war veterans and demobilized individuals was held at the Borydanka Scientific and Educational Expert Centre. Further modules of the programme will continue in an online format.

The training programme, comprising 150 academic hours (5 ECTS credits), brought together 32 participants from across Ukraine and aimed to enhance professional competencies in the area of veteran support and reintegration.

Associate Professor Tetiana Shlapko from the Department of Administrative, Economic Law and Financial-Economic Security (AELFES) participated as a trainer and delivered a core educational module focused on social security and mental health support for veterans. Her session integrated modern pedagogical techniques, such as interactive learning, case-based analysis, and situational modelling.

Special attention in her module was devoted to:

  • legal frameworks for veterans’ pension entitlements;

  • reintegration into the labour market;

  • prevention and treatment of addictions among demobilized individuals and their families;

  • the use of mediation in conflict resolution;

  • provision of medical care and rehabilitation services.

This training formed part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen professional capacity in the field of veteran support and promote the adoption of modern, evidence-based practices. The participation of a university representative in the role of trainer highlights the growing contribution of academic institutions to the reform and development of Ukraine’s social support system.
