DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE LAW OF THE INSTITUTE OF LAW

A practical self-defense training session was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Law of Sumy State University, during which students acquired essential skills for responding to dangerous situations.

The event was organized by the Student Self-Government of the Institute in cooperation with Oleksandr Ilchenko, Head of the Combat Sports Center at SumDU and Head of the Department of Physical Education and Special Training Disciplines. Around 20 participants joined the training to develop effective self-defense techniques that may prove useful in real-life scenarios.

The training program included instruction on basic techniques for escaping holds, dodging strikes, and the effective use of improvised tools for self-defense. In addition to physical skills, significant attention was devoted to psychological preparedness—specifically, methods for assessing potential threats, maintaining self-control, and making decisions under stress.

Such initiatives contribute to improving personal safety among students, cultivating rapid response skills, and fostering a responsible attitude toward self-protection in everyday life.
