DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE LAW OF THE INSTITUTE OF LAW

I had the incredible opportunity to attend a summer school in Sopot, Poland, which proved to be an enriching and transformative experience. A particularly exciting aspect of the program was the visit to the European Solidarity Centre, where I gained a profound appreciation for European values, especially solidarity. This principle, fundamental to the cooperation between EU member states, stood out as a vital foundation for unity and collaboration.

One of the standout moments was meeting with the Polish Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General, Professor Adam Bodnar from SWPS University. This meeting provided a unique perspective on justice and the intricacies of the Polish legal system, deepening my understanding of its principles and challenges.

Yet, the most memorable and impactful part of the program for me was the insightful lecture by Dr Adam Płoszka from the University of Warsaw, titled “Tolerance and Non-Discrimination — The Influence of EU Values on Polish Legislation.” This session offered a deeper understanding of the necessity of integrating European values of tolerance and equality into national legal frameworks, emphasizing their influence on fostering inclusivity and non-discrimination.

In summary, the summer school was an invaluable experience, expanding my knowledge of European Union values and their critical role in shaping contemporary legal systems across member states.
