From April 7 to 11, 2025, Associate Professor of the Department of Administrative, Civil, and Financial-Economic Law Disciplines, Tetiana Viktorivna Shlapko, participated in a professional development training program held at the Scientific and Educational Expert Center “Borodianka” (Borodianka township, Bucha District, Kyiv Region).
The program was designed for a group of 31 specialists in the support of war veterans and demobilized individuals. The educational course, entitled “Organization of the Work of a Specialist Supporting War Veterans and Demobilized Persons”, was developed in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. It combined theoretical instruction with practical training and amounted to 5 ECTS credits (150 academic hours).
The curriculum incorporated modern teaching methodologies, including lectures, training exercises, group discussions, and the analysis of real-life cases in veteran support practices. Particular attention was given to pressing issues in community-based veteran assistance. The following modules were covered both in-person and online:
-
Pension provision for war veterans (6 hours);
-
The war veteran as an employee: myths, needs, interaction with employers, and veteran entrepreneurship (sources of funding, mentorship) (4 hours);
-
Prevention and treatment of addictions in war veterans, demobilized persons, and their family members (4 hours);
-
Mediation and conflict resolution strategies (4 hours);
-
Medical support and rehabilitation, including prosthetics and assistive rehabilitation devices (4 hours).
Participation in this program enabled the acquisition of new professional competencies essential for effective support of veterans and demobilized individuals, as well as their families, within local communities. These competencies encompass social welfare, employment, psychological assistance, communication, management, and legal protection in the context of post-war transformation.
This engagement represents a significant step for the Department of AGPFEBD toward contributing to the development of a comprehensive support system for veterans in Ukraine.
